PARENTING
ON POINT
by
Jim C. Williams
Three
years ago Hermitage United Methodist Church invited people from Abingdon
Press to attend one of my parenting
classes. Later that Sunday, discussions concerning a book began. Today,
my dream has come true. I am a published author! The following paragraphs
come from Abingdon Press's 2002-2003 Fall/Winter Catalog.
"Helps parents
form a parenting plan for raising their children, rom infancy through
the teen years."
"A parenting
plan is just as important to building a family as a construction plan
is to building a house. James C. Williams helps take the frustration out
of parenting by guiding parents in developing a personalized parenting
plan that will keep their family "on point" - on the path that God has
chosen for them.
This book
walks parents through the important aspects of a parenting plan, offering
practical tips and strategies aimed at keeping their family anchored to
important values and beliefs that will redirect them when the tug of popular
culture pulls them off course. Stores from Williams' own life are interwoven
throughout the chapters, including important realizations made after a
drunk driver killed his son in 1995.
On the accompanying
CD, the author tells his powerful story, including the tragic death of
his son and his roller coaster ride with God, plus a dynamic presentation
of the book's highlights. The CD can be used as an introductory preview
to the book as well as a convenient refresher course for busy parents."
Ken Blanchard,
Co-author of "The One Minute Manager" and "Whale done!" recently
wrote "Jim Williams' book "Parenting on Point" teaches the skills needed
to nurture the growth and development of our children in today's world
by focusing `on point`- on God's path for our lives. Children of all ages,
whether in your own family or not, can benefit tremendously through your
interactions with them. I urge you to read this book and make a difference
in their lives."
Charlie
"T" Jones, author of the book "Life is Tremendous" states "tremendous
book to read, re-read and share. There is no ministry more important than
parenting. Jim Williams has given us a book overflowing with God'' power,
love and wisdom.
